open book 9 question

I have tried 3 times to install open book 9. It says it is installed, but each time I restart the computer the demo pops up that I first used from freedom scientific. The message also says my authorization number is in the computer. I can say that freedom scientific used to have much more talking in their installations than now. Any thoughts on how I get 9.0 to run? It is on drive C I'm told. I would like it on my desktop but that is secondary; need to hear it first with the jaws speech like always. Any help is appreciated.

Update. Called FS and they knew the answer. More instructions need to be sent with the disks like they used to be and I suggested that on their web site. Who would think you have to tab through the demo to update a new program you just installed? Maybe lots of folks on here, but I am no programmer and always had instructions come with the disks. Like some on here though, I have had good luck with FS.

I can get openbook to install just fine, but it won't recognize any text that it has scanned.

what kind of scanner are you trying to use with OB.
To the first post, it states in the what's new that openbook now uses ILM like jaws, so installing is exactly what you get when you activate jaws or run it as a demo.

I'm trying to use a canon scanner with openbook. That make looked like it worked quite well and it was the only one that was in stock in the shop anyway, or rather, that was the cheapest one in stock. The others were like nearly a hundred £ or more.

I don't know how to spell it, but it sounds like canon cano scanlead100. Which I now realize is one of the few that are not listed on the website.

Still should work. when you check under cameras and scanners does it show up? If so when you open openbook and go to advanced under acquisition source is cannon scanner there?

Yes. I miss heard the name of it it's WIA
CanoScan
LiDE 100 but anyway, Canon is there. When I go to acquisition sources scanner is selected and so is canon when I press tab.
